PRESENTS:

jules & the agreeables

JULIANA “JULES” MACDOWELL is a sonically sensational and sensitive singer-songwriter who unflaggingly delivers spirited performances at every show. She splits her time between the hills and hollers of Loudoun County, VA., and the riotous rock that is Key West. Her special brand of pop-americana draws primarily from folk, rock and country – inspired by her youth, growing up on a farm in rural Maryland.  While much of her music is bouncy and upbeat, there’s a bluesy sensibility to her expressive alto that reveals something deeper. When not performing with her band, The Agreeables, or duo partner, guitarist Mike Ault, Juliana works on songwriting and recording. MacDowell is surrounded by a great cast of musicians with ample opportunity to blow and to be creative in their support.

Juliana’s interest in music began at age three when her grandfather hoisted her up on the bench of his 1939 Steinway – the piano she plays to this day. “Music evokes the happiest memories of life on my grandfather’s farm, where I sang to the swallows in a cavernous barn and whistled to winged warblers in the forest.”

Juliana’s earlier career in old house restoration gave way to her pursuit of music, first, as a backing vocalist with the Joey & The Waitress Band, then as a solo artist, releasing her first album, “Take Me Away,” in 2016.  She recorded “Leaving Home,” on a houseboat in Key West and signed it to Conch Town Music in 2019.  Juliana’s  third album came to life in the hallowed halls of Nashville’s Ocean Way Studios on famed Music Row with Grammy winning producer/engineer, Bil VornDick (Alison Kraus, Bela Fleck…). “Big Old Yellow Moon” is a collection of mini-masterpieces spanning from beguiling ballads to kick-up-your-spurs americana.
