North Carolina native sisters Elise, Olivia and Sofia Fernandez perform an eclectic, genre-bending mix of traditional Americana music ranging from folk and bluegrass standards to Celtic standards to jazz standards to original non-standards. They began life as strictly instrumentalists but were eventually overcome by their desire to add vocal accompaniment to their instrumental renditions. It wasn’t long before they were overcome by the irresistible sister urge to sing harmony backups behind one another. Ever since, they have been delighting audiences and winning band contests in the NC and VA areas with a combination of sibling-tight harmony vocals and energetic instrumental breaks. Elise (19 yrs old) plays guitar, Olivia (16 yrs old) plays mandolin and Sofia (14 yrs old) plays fiddle with all three taking turns on vocal leads and harmony parts. Having grown up in the bluegrass and folk music community, North Carolina and Virginia music festivals and fiddler’s conventions had a large influence on their passion for the music and their own sound. They continue to hone their art with a desire to preserve and expand the time honored tradition of the music of the Appalachians.
