Final Band Lineup Announced!
The finishing touches have been applied to the Rooster Walk 10 band lineup, highlighted by a special ‘King & Strings’ collaborative set between Marcus King and Billy Strings.
Other bands joining the bill are: The Mantras, The Dustbowl Revival, Town Mountain, The Grass is Dead, The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, The Southern Belles, Victor Wainwright & The Train, The Trongone Band, Wild Ponies; Erin & The Wildfire; Porch 40; Kendall Street Company; Violet Bell; After Jack; Jason Springs Band; Prosperity’s Folly; Juliana MacDowell; Fernandez Sisters; The Wildmans; Aaron Crowe. In addition, five solo ‘artists at large’ will perform during the festival: Jeff Sipe (drums), Ron Holloway (saxophone), Josh Shilling (piano), Jay Starling (dobro) and Wallace Mullinax (guitar).
The top of the lineup is already set in The Wood Brothers, JJ Grey & Mofro and Robert Randolph & The Family Band, The Marcus King Band and Billy Strings. For a full list of festival performers, visit our Band Lineup page.
Marcus King and Billy Strings, two of the hottest names on today’s music scene, will join forces for a world-debut “King & Strings” set on May 25th at Rooster Walk! King will join Strings for the duration of a late-night, 2-hour set at RW10, and iconic drummer Jeff Sipe will also sit in for the latter portion of the performance.
The two have never met, let alone played together, but each calls himself a fan of the other’s music. The current plan involves an unscripted jam that will begin in the bluegrass/acoustic world native to Strings, before evolving into something more electric and rock-based, with Sipe on the kit.
“I think that will be the most fun, if we showcase a little bit of both. We’ll get Marcus some on an acoustic and then get me on an electric with Marcus,” said the 25-year-old Strings. “We’ll kind of do both of our worlds and make them clash.”
